![]() You can give your rose to Torres, if you’d like (I usually don’t) but don’t give it to the Monarch, either.Īccept the Monarch’s invitation after the Ball, but don’t kiss them.ĭo accept the gift, but don’t go visit the Monarch that night. Be adroit/subtle when influencing the court, however, to help build up your manipulation skills, whichever route you’re going for.) This is not necessary for a book three romance, but I like it better with a strong background for their relationship. It usually works if you decide you need to know more, and then observe everyone, before deciding what your position is. ![]() (This is trickier than it looks, I have accidentally talked everyone into full out war a time or two. If you’re going to attempt to romance Vega in book three, be subtle at the Ambassador’s meeting … try to encourage the middle of the road options. The Monarch likes it when other people also like their quarry.) (I suggest going to Torres’ tea, as well, and be polite, ie “everything is going according to plan” rather than pushing Torres away or dinging your reputation by attempting to provoke some passion. The trick to successfully becoming the Consort without getting a hit to your reputation is to encourage the Monarch as little as possible without ever completely discouraging them.Īccept the invitation to the Tourney, but don’t give your favor. There’s not much point to middling magic skill. HOWEVER, having it as even your second choice it’s frequently not powerful enough for a couple of the checks, so either take it as your best or worst. My “canon” character has magic as her greatest weakness, so it’s not necessary for success, but it does make some things easier. As far as I know, there is no way to completely avoid a slightly questionable reputation, what with the Monarch and de Mendosa both being interested in you, but you want to make it as strong as possible beyond that. You can build up your subtle in the game itself, so manipulation isn’t very important at character building … whenever possible though, pick the subtle options.ĪLSO, be modest. Either first or second pick, so you get the stats bonus. To make an initial good impression on the Monarch, charm is the most useful stat. not as much of an ass as Mendosa just isn’t saying much. While either’s fine, your position is more secure as an actual spouse, so this will be the “how to be the Monarch’s Wife” story ( so no marrying Torres. To succeed in book one, you must end up as the Monarch’s Mistress (assuming y’all are playing women, I always do, feel free to swap the pronouns if you’re not) or Consort. Clearly I should not be doing this at this time of night? (Same to anyone else who reads this.) It got a little weird and long and flaily. Or if it’s useless and I should start over. (Kind of a lot of thoughts? SPOILERS ABOUND.) LMK if they’re at all useful. Choice of I have never written a proper walkthrough/guide before, so here’s just some thoughts on how I made it through the game.
